Humility: Divine Identity

While the powerful have always asserted their identity and authority -- often through violence -- Jesus affirms his identity not through self-assertion, but through the vision that comes in the faith of his followers. Divine identity in this way is not like the identities of the powerful. Rather than resorting to assertion, it awaits our recognition and affirmation.
