It's very easy to fall into the trap of performing for our God, in the hopes of earning our sanctification and salvation. But this notion turns the Gospel on its head: a Gospel that "comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable..." A Gospel that calls us simply to be how God made us, and find ourselves transformed not by our action, but by grace.
