COS is searching for a new Priest-in-Charge to lead our congregation!

Leadership Search

Candidate responses are due Monday, August 3rd!
Following the resignation in January of our long-term rector, the Rev. Canon Richard Edward Helmer, to take the position of Canon Precentor of Grace Cathedral, a search team appointed by the Vestry has been hard at work to find the next leader for COS.

  • Working closely with the Diocese of California and with input from the vestry and entire congregation, the search team put together a Ministry Template to describe COS and what it is looking for in its next leader. You can find this document at The Episcopal Church’s Vocation Hub. Please share this link with anyone you think might be a good match for us!
  • Candidate responses are due Monday, August 3rd, at which time the search committee will select some applicants to be interviewed. All interviews will take place via Zoom.
  • The applicants the search committee deems to be the best fit from the interviews will be invited to visit COS and meet with the Vestry. These visits will take place in September.
  • Following a period of discernment, prayer and conversation the Vestry will then elect our next Priest-in-Charge. Our hope is to have this election by December.
  • In the meantime, we are in the very capable hands of our interim rector, the Very Rev. Dr. Julia McCray-Goldsmith.
