Companions of the Poor

The Daughters of Charity, was the first apostolic community of women, not confined to the cloister. Led by Louise de Marillac, and supported by Vincent de Paul and his community, they supplied the many needs of the poor, opening schools, hospitals, rescuing abandoned children, and offering help to prisoners.
